Substance Abuse in the Workplace
The commonwealth is a "Drug Free Workplace" which encompasses both the use of drugs and alcohol. Commonwealth policy prohibits:
- The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession, or use of alcohol and other controlled substances by a state employee, either while on duty or in any commonwealth workplace. Find more information on

- Reporting to work or remaining at work in an unfit condition as a result of alcohol or other drugs.
Such conduct may subject the employee to appropriate
discipline, up to and including termination.
